City Never Sleeps, Slept Today
When we say “City Never Sleep” anyone can guess. Yes, it is New York City. New York City is a diverse city in the world. More than 200 countries people reside or visit here everyday. This city never sleep, but today it is sleeping. May be city is tired of working 24/7, and taking deep breathe and sleeping in very quite environment. I landed to this state on 2006, and I have never seen this city sleeping. However, due to snow blizzard whole city is quite. No train, no car, no bus, many of the businesses are closed.
Can we do anything with natural? Such as an earthquake that came on April 2015 in Nepal killed more than 8000 people and many people were injured. Are we able to do anything with the nature? We were very proud to say that New York City never sleep, but this snow storm made city sleep not in the night time, but during the day time. Right now New York City is totally shutdown. 24 hours running vehicle is either sleeping under the snow blanket or restricted due to Governer Cuomo State of Emergency Warning. Cuomo warned everyone not to drive or travel during the storm time, otherwise there will be heavy tickets and license points will be taken down. Therefore, all the tunnels, Highways, Bridges were closed at 2:30PM Saturday.
Non stop Subway train has been shutdown as well. No Vehicle, No Train, No People is the street made New York Dead. Many flights, events, Broadway show that were scheduled for this weekend were already canceled. We really waited so long for the snow for this year, till January 21st we did not see any snow or very few once. But, this heavy snow got so worse than ever. Eastern States and Northern States are all shutdown due to heavy snow storm. More than 24 Inches of Snow on Maryland, Viriginia, Delaware, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvenia, New Jersey, West Viriginia, Tennesse, and Kentucky states are warned for State of Emergency. Governer and City Mayor has requested the citizens not to go outside the house.
According to BBC News, many houses are without electricity and at least 11 people died due to cold. According to New York Times, seven thousand and six flights have been canceled. North Carolina was the most affected states, while there is no electricity in more than 114 thousand houses. Till Sunday, Metro services has been shutdown in Washington DC.
Currently New York City people are enjoying their snow vacation. People never had time to spend with family together, today is the perfect time for them. I think nature has to play a role to make their family together. I wish everyone stay warm inside their house. Be safe, and take care of your beloved one.
