Nepal Day Parade 2016: Big Day for Nepali & Nepal’s Pride

Monstrous stream of people’s seen first time ever in Manhattan, New York. May 22 turned out a Nepal Day Parade 2016 in New York surprisingly in the history. Nepal Day Parade 2016 was organized by Nepalese-American Community to mark the Republic Day of Nepal. The nation turned into the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on May 29, 2008.
From 28th Street Broadway to Eighteenth Street was full with Nepalese individuals and Nepali Music. We listened “Yo Nepali Shira Uchali”, “Resham Firiri” etc. The event was begun at right around 2:30pm on May 22nd, 2016 with America and Nepal Anthem Song. The primary center of the parade was to present the social pride of Nepal and Nepalese Americans amongst the assorted groups of workers in the City of New York. The fundamental reason was to advance exchange and tourism of Nepal, and to help Nepalese Americans to intermix in the mainstreaming procedure in the United States.
Nepal Day Parade 2016 was initiated by Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, Deputy Representative of the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations and Daniel Dromm, Council Member of Jackson Heights District 25.

More than 40 Nepalese people group associations in the United States were taken an interest, and more than 3,000 Nepalese strolled from 29th Street, south to Eighteenth Street and Broadway, conveying United States and Nepalese Flag and commending the huge day.
This occasion was held to demonstrate different outsiders that Nepal is protected to visit. Since quake of April 25, 2015, individuals are still terrified to visit Nepal. Be that as it may, they don’t recognize what the present circumstance of Nepal is. Not just New Yorker took part; there were Nepalese association and individuals from New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, California, and Washington DC.

Even though, other official website is mentioning big numbers and it was held from 1pm-4pm, however this was not true. This program was started in “Nepali Time”, you know that. It was scheduled for 1 pm, but program actually started at 2:30pm. Organizers were waiting for the people to come to show the huge number.

At last, program was little unorganized. Once we reach 18th street, which was a last junction, their decorated trailer went to the opposite of street to drop it to the rental. This was not expected, because everyone was waiting for them to come. Nobody informed anyone where to go after the last destination. People did enjoy the meantime; however police started to open the street and ask all people to move to the sidewalk. This was really disappointing to me, because organizers were very careless regarding this matter. After sometime one of the organizers came and ask to go to the park. WOW!! Are you kidding? At least, wrap up the program before people started to spread. Later, we did not go to park and went home.
Finally, I would like to say that, it was a great event for Nepalese people and pride to our nation. However, organizers please try to organize the event properly. In addition, please do not try to promote any organizations in the event. We were there to represent Nepal alone, not to advertise any organizations. Please unite as one, don’t spread. Our community is very small, and we are still trying to spread. I hope, next year every body will represent themselves as “NEPALI”.
